it ... » i <..~. ~. _,.. , vu, , _ i ~ CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO.94-118 BY: COUNCILMAN MCKAY A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PLACEMENT OF NOISE BARRIERS ALONG INTERSTATE 480, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, development in and around North Olmsted has caused an increase in traffic flow on I-480; and WHEREAS, residents dwelling alongside I-480 are continually annoyed by unacceptable noise levels, light pollution and general filth from trucks, motorcycles and cars; and WHEREAS, on occasion cars have run off of the freeway, crossed the embankment and adjoining bike path only to come to rest within citizens' backyards; and WHEREAS, children at Butternut Elementary School presently play alongside the current inadequate wire fence. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO: SECTION 1: The Mayor and Council of the City of North Olmsted request that noise bamers be installed along I-480 at Georgette Avenue, Grace Avenue, Fitch Road, Nantucket Drive, Brendan Lane, Burns Road, Southern Avenue, Butternut Elementary School and Spruce Elementary School. SECTION 2: The Clerk of Council is requested to send copies of this resolution to Governor of Ohio George V. Voinovich, Ohio Transportation Secretary Jerry Wray, State of Ohio Senator Gary Suhadohuk, State of Ohio House Representative Edward Kasputis, United States Senators from Ohio John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum, and United States Congressman Martin Hoke. SECTION 3: That this resolution is hereby declared an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and general welfare and provided that it receives an affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
