it <br />... » i <..~. ~. _,.. , vu, , _ <br />i ~ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.94-118 <br />BY: COUNCILMAN MCKAY <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PLACEMENT OF <br />NOISE BARRIERS ALONG INTERSTATE 480, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, development in and around North Olmsted has caused an increase in <br />traffic flow on I-480; and <br />WHEREAS, residents dwelling alongside I-480 are continually annoyed by <br />unacceptable noise levels, light pollution and general filth from trucks, motorcycles and <br />cars; and <br />WHEREAS, on occasion cars have run off of the freeway, crossed the <br />embankment and adjoining bike path only to come to rest within citizens' backyards; and <br />WHEREAS, children at Butternut Elementary School presently play alongside <br />the current inadequate wire fence. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO: <br />SECTION 1: The Mayor and Council of the City of North Olmsted request that <br />noise bamers be installed along I-480 at Georgette Avenue, Grace Avenue, Fitch Road, <br />Nantucket Drive, Brendan Lane, Burns Road, Southern Avenue, Butternut Elementary <br />School and Spruce Elementary School. <br />SECTION 2: The Clerk of Council is requested to send copies of this resolution <br />to Governor of Ohio George V. Voinovich, Ohio Transportation Secretary Jerry Wray, <br />State of Ohio Senator Gary Suhadohuk, State of Ohio House Representative Edward <br />Kasputis, United States Senators from Ohio John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum, and <br />United States Congressman Martin Hoke. <br />SECTION 3: That this resolution is hereby declared an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and general welfare <br />and provided that it receives an affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members of Council, it <br />shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
