<br /> ,gip, „~~,, <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0.94 -106 <br />BY: Councilman Dean McKaX <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO MAKE <br />EMERGENCY REPAIRS ON THE WATER LINE AND GAS LINE AT THE <br />WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT, WITHOUT PUBLIC BIDDING, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, recent inspection by the City of North Olmsted of the water line and gas line <br />between Mastick Road and the Wastewater Treatment Plant has indicated that the water line and <br />gas line are in need of immediate replacement and/or repair. <br />WHEREAS, the aforesaid problem has reached such a critical state that public bidding <br />and the time associated therewith would be too time consuming to meet the City's obligation to <br />protect the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />WHEREAS, upon the recommendation of the Director of Public Service, this Council <br />deems it an emergency sufficient in magnitude to forego public bidding on said project in order <br />to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and is hereby authorized to have the <br />Soehnlen Piping Company perform the work consisting of temporary and permanent repairs, and <br />that after having obtained a quote for said work, the Director of Public Service present said quote <br />to the Board of Control for its approval. In any event, the cost for said repair shall not exceed <br />Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($85,000.00). Upon approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor <br />be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a Contract for same. <br />SECTION 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason <br />that it is immediately necessary to protect the residents, and further provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members of Council, it shall go into immediate force and <br />effect upon its signing by the Mayor. <br />
