..a~..~. e _ . . <br />. . <br />WHEREAS, space-related technology has contributed to improved <br />fireproofing materials, home and personal alarm systems, and other important <br />public safety devices; and <br />WHEREAS, transportation benefits have ranged from fuel efficiencies, <br />better brake systems, aircraft design, and highway profiling; and <br />WHEREAS, NASA not only contributes over $800 million annually in <br />grants and contracts to educational and nonprofit institutions, but also inspires <br />young people to study math, science and engineering; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That it is the desire of this Council to urge the National <br />League of Cities to support the NASA budget, including the space program and <br />Space Station Freedom, which will keep alive this country's leadership in <br />aerospace, aeronautics, life science and supercomputing programs. <br />SECTION 2: That this resolution be considered by the Transportation and <br />Communication Committee as a priority for their work program. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from <br />and after th earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: 9 <br />A ST: <br />Barbara Seman, C erk of Council <br />~~ <br />James D.
