<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.94-64 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING APRIL AS FA/R HOUSING MONTH, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, On January 31, 1986 the Board of Cuyahoga County <br />Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution which urged every local <br />government to work cooperatively in furthering fair housing" and to affirm the <br />civil rights of every homeseeker and resident of Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, The Greater Cleveland communities have united to present <br />a collaborative effort to support April as Fair Housing Month; and <br />WHEREAS, Recent studies have documented the continued incidence of <br />discrimination in this county's housing market and the existence of segregated <br />communities and school districts; and <br />WHEREAS, There exists in this county areas which are integrating <br />successfully and in need of support to assure their continued existence as <br />racially diverse communities; and <br />WHEREAS, The Fair Housing Amendments Act that became effective on <br />March 12, 1989 added two protected classes, the familial status and the <br />handicapped. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />Section 1: That this Administration and Council is determined to reaffirm <br />its commitment to open housing and equal housing opportunity for all of our <br />citizens. <br />Section 2: That it is the goal of this government to eliminate housing <br />discrimination and assure the rights of every citizen to buy, rent or sell housing <br />without regard to race, sex, religion, national origin or handicap. <br />
