<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.94-54 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MARCH 13-19, 1994 AS TORNADO <br />AND FLOOD SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK AND URGING <br />PARTICIPATION IN SAFETY ACTIVITIES AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in an area of the State of Ohio <br />described as Tornado Alley; and <br />WHEREAS, Within this "Alley" lies the potential hazards of loss of life <br />and injury to persons and property due to tornadoes; and <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is also located in an area of the State of <br />Ohio where there is a potential for loss of life and injury due to floods; and <br />WHEREAS, Community awareness and planning for such threats can <br />result in saving of lives and prevention of injury; and <br />WHEREAS, Governor George V. Voinovich has proclaimed March 13-19, <br />1994 as TORNADO AND FLOOD SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK; and <br />WHEREAS, A Tornado Safety Exercise designed specifically for <br />elementary school and local municipal participation county-wide is scheduled at <br />10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 1994 through the Emergency Broadcast <br />System and other components of emergency management. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Administration and City Council recognize <br />March 13-19, 1994 as TORNADO AND FLOOD SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK <br />in North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare, and further provided it receives an affirmative vote of two-thirds of <br />all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
