CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2010 - 8 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PLANNING TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED FORA COMMUNITY RECYCLING AWARENESS <br />GRANT FROM THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY SOLID WASTE RECYCLING <br />DISTRICT ("CCSWRD'); FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ACCEPT THE GRANT IF A WARDED; AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT <br />WITH THE CCSWRD, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Community Recycling Awareness Grant was created by the CCSWRD <br />to help local governments in Cuyahoga County promote community sponsored recycling <br />programs to residents; and <br />WHEREAS, grants in the amount of up to $3,500.00 are awarded on a competitive basis <br />to communities seeking to promote and raise awareness of community wide recycling; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, requires no local match of funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director Planning and Mayor Kennedy believe that these grant funds <br />should be utilized to acquire signage announcing recycling programming at the City Hall <br />complex and the Bradley Road leaf composting facility, all in order to promote and advance <br />recycling in the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Planning to make application for said CCSWRD Community Recycling Awareness Grant, and to <br />authorize the Mayor to accept the grant if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Planning to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the CCSWRD Community Recycling Awareness <br />Grant on behalf of the City of North Olmsted for signage announcing recycling programming at <br />the City Hall complex and the Bradley Road leaf composting facility; and does authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the grant and execute a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if a <br />grant is awarded. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for the grant funds on or before February 1, 2010, and further, <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
