CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2010 - 25 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED FORA 2010 RECYCLING CONTAINER GRANT <br />FROM THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY SOLID WASTE RECYCLING <br />DISTRICT ("CCSWRD'); FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ACCEPT THE GRANT IF AWARDED; AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT <br />WITH THE CCSWRD, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Recycling Container Grant program was created by the CCSWRD to <br />assist local governments in Cuyahoga County in obtaining use appropriate recycling containers <br />for recyclable materials generated on site; and <br />WHEREAS, grants in the amount of up to $1,000.00 are awarded on a competitive basis <br />to communities seeking to promote in house recycling; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, requires no local match of funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety and Mayor Kennedy believe that these grant <br />funds should be utilized to acquire recycling containers for use by Senior Center, Recreation <br />Center, Community Cabin and Springvale Golf Course and Ballroom personnel to dispose of <br />recyclable materials generated on a daily basis; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for said CCSWRD Recycling Container Grant, and to <br />authorize the Mayor to accept the grant if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the CCSWRD Recycling Container Grant on behalf <br />of the City of North Olmsted for recycling containers to be used at the Senior Center, the <br />Recreation Center, the Community Cabin and the Springvale Golf Course and Ballroom; and <br />does authorize the Mayor to accept the grant and execute a contract and any and all other <br />necessary papers, if a grant is awarded. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for the grant funds, and further, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
