CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2010 - 26 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NOR TH OLMSTED FORA "COCA COLA COMPANY, KEEP AMERICA <br />BEAUTIFUL BIN GRANT"; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ACCEPT THE GRANT IF AWARDED; AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT <br />WITH THE COCA COLA COMPANY, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Coca Cola Company and Keep America Beautiful, Inc. have created a <br />grant program which establishes partnerships with local community groups to expand public <br />space recycling on a grassroots level; and <br />WHEREAS, since its inception in the fall of 2007, the Bin Grant program has placed <br />more than 5,700 recycling bins in 150 communities in 48 states and the District of Columbia. <br />Recipients have included municipalities, colleges, Native American tribes, and community-based <br />non-government organizations; and <br />WHEREAS, grants are available to allow for the purchase of recycling containers to be <br />used by the City at community events including, but not limited to, Homecoming, All Scouts <br />Weekend and the NOSO soccer tournament; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, requires no local match of funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety and Mayor Kennedy believe that these grant <br />funds should be utilized to acquire recycling containers for use at said community events; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for said Bin Grant Program, and to authorize the Mayor to <br />accept the grant if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the Coca Cola, Keep America Beautiful Bin Grant <br />Program on behalf of the City of North Olmsted for recycling containers; and does authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the grant and execute a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if a <br />grant is awarded. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for the grant funds, and further, provided it receives the <br />
