CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION N0.2010 - 30 By: Mayor Kennedy A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE WESTERN RESERVE AREA AGENCY ON AGING TO PROVIDE FOR MEDICARE BENEFICIARY OUTREACHAND ASSISTANCE FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED SENIOR CENTER, AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. WHEREAS, the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging has been awarded a Grant pursuant to the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) to provide for Medicare Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance Programs; and WHEREAS, the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging proposes to enter an Agreement with the City of North Olmsted to enable the Senior Center to participate in said grant program and to be awarded qualified expense reimbursement up to Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00); and WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted Senior Center can use these additional grant dollars to initiate outreach and enrollment activities targeting limited income Medicare beneficiaries that may be eligible for Low Income Subsidy or Medicare Savings Programs; and WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter into an Agreement with the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging to provide for Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance by the North Olmsted Senior Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, with the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging to provide funding for a Medicare Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance Program, for the period September 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010, in order to provide for such activities and participation by the Senior Center, and to provide for qualified expense reimbursement in the amount of Five Hundred Dollar ($500.00). The Agreement shall be in form and substance of the attached Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification, having a total of two (2) pages, marked as Exhibit A and attached hereto, with only such changes to be hereinafter made in said contracts as are not substantially adverse to the City and which are approved by the Director of Law.
