CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 35 BY: Mayor Kennedy A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTYAND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES ("AFSCME"), OHIO COUNCIL 8, LOCAL 2681, FOR THE CLERICAL AND TECHNICAL UNIT EMPLOYEES, FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1, 2009, THROUGH JUNE 30, 2012, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Ohio law provides for the recognition of public sector labor unions and for municipal corporations to negotiate collective bargaining agreements with such unions that have been recognized as the bargaining agents for their public employees; and WHEREAS, the, American Federation of State, county and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, Ohio Council 8 (hereinafter "AFSCME") has been recognized as the exclusive bargaining agent for the City's clerical and technical unit employees; and WHEREAS, the Administration conducted negotiations with AFSCME representing the interests of the members of said bargaining units in 2009; and WHEREAS, the Administration and AFSCME successfully negotiated agreements on all of the issues that were presented during the collective bargaining negotiations between the Administration and AFSCME, and the agreements that were negotiated are satisfactory to both the Administration and the bargaining unit members; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to enter into a collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME on behalf of, respectively, the City's clerical and technical employees, for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2012; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between the Administration and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees ("AFSCME"), Ohio Council 8, Local 2681, for the Clerical and Technical Unit Employees, for the period July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2012, copies of which are on file in the office of the Director of Human Resources, are hereby approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute said agreement.
