CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE N0.2010 - 52 BY: Mayor Kennedy AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1321.01 (GENERAL BUILDING FEES; CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION) OF CHAPTER 1321 OF THE B UILDING CODE ENTITLED "PERMIT AND INSPECTION FEES" IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH THE B UILDING DEPARTMENT'S PLANS EXAMINATION FEES AND PERMIT FEES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, pursuant to Ohio law, additions and alterations to existing residential structures must be submitted to the Residential Building Official for plan examination to obtain plan approval; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Building Commissioner that the City's fees for examination of plans required to be approved under Ohio law, which fees are set forth in North Olmsted Codified Ordinance 1321.01(u), include a new charge entitled "Additions or Alterations of Existing Residential Structures" in the amount of $75.00; and WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted does not require a permit or fee for all activities undertaken in North Olmsted; however, effective Apri122, 2010, Ohio law will require all contractors performing renovations, repairs, and painting projects in homes, child care facilities or schools built before 1978 to be certified by the EPA in lead safe work practices to prevent lead contamination; and WHEREAS, a permit process and accompanying fee will best ensure that Ohio law and EPA guidelines are complied with; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Building Commissioner that the City's fees for replacement of roofing and siding only, which fees are set forth in North Olmsted Codified Ordinance 1321.01(f), be amended and restated to cover "Replacement of Roofing, Siding, Windows, House Painting" and include a charge in the amount of $75.00; and WHEREAS, consistent with the recommendation of the Building Commissioner, it is the desire of this Council to (1) establish a plans examination fee for additions or alterations of existing residential structures; (2) establish a permit and fee for the replacement of roofing, siding, windows and house painting; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO:
