The Director of Law shall act as legal counsel and serve in such capacity the Mayor, Council, administrative officers, departments, and the commissions and boards of the City. As legal counsel and attorney, he shall represent the City in all proceedings in court or before any administrative body and in such other matters and controversies as he is, by resolution or ordinance, directed to prosecute. The Director of Law may with the approval of a majority of the members of Council retain the services of outside counsel to assist him in carrying out any of duties specified in this Section. He or an Assistant Director of Law shall act as Prosecuting Attorney for the City. n° ^''^" ~°~~ r,~. ^" ^*'~°~ a„*~°^ ~ r ~°r°~^^~°r .The Director of Law shall perform all other duties now or hereinafter imposed by Council or the Mayor consistent with the duties of the office of Director of Law. SECTION 2. If the foregoing proposal receives the affirmative vote of a majority of the electors voting thereon, then the said amendment to Article V, Section 2 of the Charter shall be effective upon certification of such affirmative vote following the election on November 2, 2010. SECTION 3. It is the desire of the Council that the ballot for said question shall be in substantially the following form: PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. Shall Article V, Section 2 of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be amended to require the Director of Law to perform all such duties now or hereinafter imposed by Council or the Mayor consistent with the duties of the office of Director of Law? The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to deliver a certified copy of this Ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County no sooner than July 2, 2010, and no later than September 3, 2010.
