CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2010 - 93 <br />BY: Councilperson Orlowski <br />A RESOL UTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF NO IDLING SIGNS FROM <br />THE NORTHEAST OHIO AREA COORDINATING AGENCY, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Northeast Ohio Area Coordinating Agency desires to donate signs to the <br />City for posting on City property which designate areas as "Clean Air Zones" and encourage <br />vehicle engines to be turned off; and <br />WHEREAS, the City promotes clean air initiatives and recently enacted legislation <br />regulating the idling of vehicle engines in order to affect emissions and overall air quality in North <br />Olmsted and beyond its borders; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety and Mayor have requested that the donation be <br />accepted; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires, in accordance with the above recommendations, to accept <br />the said donation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted hereby accepts a donation from the Northeast <br />Ohio Area Coordinating Agency of signs indicating "Turn Engines Off -Clean Air Zone -Don't <br />Idle -Breathe Easier" for use on City property throughout the City of North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately to allow for the <br />acceptance and installation of such signs at a time of year when vehicle emissions levy the <br />greatest impact upon the public health; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote <br />oftwo-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
