CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 117 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR, ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, TO ACCEPT A GRANT <br />FROM WAL-MART TO BE USED FOR A NATIONAL DAY OF <br />SERVICE PROJECT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Wal-Mart recently resolved to award a monetary grant to the City of North <br />Olmsted in the amount of Three Thousand One Hundred and Seventy-Five Dollars ($3,175.00) to be <br />used for National Day of Service Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the National Day of Service is September 11, 2010, and the volunteer service <br />project this year is to complete the painting of fire hydrants throughout the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted and its volunteers are extremely grateful for the <br />participation and generosity of Wal-Mart in this years National Day of Service; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to accept said grant on <br />behalf of the City, to deposit the funds into the City's Endowment and Grant fund, and to use the <br />grant for materials and supplies for said volunteer service project. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized, on behalf of the City of North <br />Olmsted, to accept a grant from Wal-Mart in the amount of Three Thousand One Hundred Seventy <br />Five Dollars ($3,175.00) to be used by the City of North Olmsted for National Day of Service <br />volunteer projects. <br />SECTION 2: That said Wal-Mart grant be deposited into the City's Endowment and Grant <br />fund, and be used only for National Day of Service volunteer project purposes. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk is authorized and directed to mail a copy of this Resolution to <br />Wal-Mart together with correspondence expressing the sincere gratitude of the City Council, the <br />Mayor and all citizens in recognition of Wal-Mart's participation and generosity. <br />SECTION 4: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for <br />the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately as the project funding is <br />needed September 11, 2010, for National Day of Service; and further provided it receives the <br />affirrnative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
