. ? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 119 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SER VICE <br />TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF BULK TREATED <br />ROCK SALT FOR ICE AND SNOW REMOVAL OPERATIONS AS <br />DETAILED IN SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE AND FURTHER <br />A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE <br />LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, AFTER BOARD OF CONTROL <br />APPROVAL, AND DECLARINGANEMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Public Service has advised this Council that it is <br />necessary to advertise for bids to purchase bulk treated rock salt for ice and snow removal <br />operations, as required, to fulfill needs throughout the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the Service Department has prepared and filed for inspection all necessary <br />bid specifications for said rock salt requirements contract; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for bulk treated rock salt for ice and snow removal needs throughout the City, <br />as required, and to further authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with the lowest and best <br />bidder to purchase said rock salt, after Board of Control approval. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STfI TE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Safety/Service be and he is hereby authorized <br />to advertise for bids for bulk treated rock salt far ice and snow removal needs throughout the City <br />in accordance with the bid specifications now on file, and further, that upon approval by the <br />Board of Control, the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract and execute the <br />same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately in order to <br />purchase such supplies on a seasonal basis, as the current requirements contract terminates <br />November 5, 2010, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all <br />members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: J-,--0 !
