CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 134 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND <br />DEVELOPMENT TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A <br />CONTRACT TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR THE NEW <br />EMERGENCY FOOD CUPBOARD PROJECT, AS DETAILED IN THE <br />SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT, AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD <br />OF CONTROL, TO CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST <br />AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City upon application received a One Hundred Thousand Dollar <br />($100,000.00) Community Development Block Grant award to provide for renovations to an <br />existing City facility in order to house an emergency food cupboard; and <br />WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid for said improvements <br />have been prepared and are on file in the Building Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Development to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to construct an emergency food <br />cupboard, as set forth in said specifications, and to further authorize the Mayor, following <br />approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Development be and she is hereby <br />authorized to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to construct an emergency food <br />cupboard, as detailed in the specifications now on file in the Building Department, and that the <br />Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, is hereby authorized to execute a contract on <br />behalf of the City with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately in order to <br />establish a bid opening deadline of December 31, 2010; and further provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
