, , . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 142 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TD MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OFNORTH OLMSTED FOR PAR TICIPA TION IN, AND GRANT FUNDING <br />FOR, THE 2011 OVI TASK FORCE OVERTIME GRANT; AND FURTHER <br />A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT IF A WARDED <br />AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE SAME, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Division of Police would like to participate in <br />the 2011 "OVI Task Force Overtime Grant" sponsored by the State of Ohio, Department of <br />Public Safety and University Hospitals of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the program provides funding for targeted OVI (Operating a Vehicle while <br />under the Influence) enforcement to be conducted by the Division of Police in cooperation with <br />the Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force in August and September of 2011; and <br />WHEREAS, the program seeks to decrease the incidence of OVI violations, decrease <br />crashes involving alcohol or drug impaired drivers, and increase enforcement of OVI laws; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant reimbursement rate will not to exceed $1,661.99; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for participation and funding, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the "OVI Task Force Overtime Grant"; and does <br />further authorize the Mayor to accept the award and execute a contract and any and all other <br />necessary papers, if successful in the grant application. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for participation; and further, provided it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ?,! , _2?, <br />)-0( ??' <br />ATTEST: <br />First Reading: ?
