CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 143 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR PAR TICIPA TION IN, AND GRANT FUNDING <br />FOR, THE 2011 "HIGH VISIBILITY ENFORCEMENT OVERTIME <br />GRANT "; AND FURTHER A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT <br />THE GRANT IF A WARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Division of Police would like to participate in <br />the 2011 "High Visibility Enforcement Overtime Grant" program sponsored by the State of <br />Ohio, Department of Public Safety and University Hospitals of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the program provides funding for targeted enforcement to decrease the <br />incidence of fatal motor vehicle accidents, accidents involving alcohol / drug impairment and to <br />increase the use of safety belts, all to be conducted by the Division of Police in 2011; and <br />WHEREAS, the program's goal is to decr ease the incidence of fatal motor vehicle <br />accidents, accidents involving alcohol / drug impairment and to increase safety belt usage in the <br />City of North Olmsted and Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant reimbursement rate will not to exceed $4,622.41; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for participation and funding, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the 2011 "Cuyahoga County High Visibility <br />Enforcement Overtime Grant"; and does further authorize the Mayor to accept the award and <br />execute a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if successful in the grant application. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary far the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for participation; and further, provided it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />First Reading: ? / r A'l ?-' <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: f ' (l rA
