? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 154 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATIDN ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OFNORTH OLMSTED FOR PAR TICIPA TION IN, AND GRANT FUNDING <br />FOR, THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE <br />GRANT; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE <br />GRANT IF A WARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Divisian of Police would like to participate in <br />the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistarice Grant ("JAG") program sponsored by the State <br />of Ohio, Department of Public Safety, Office of Criminal Justice Services; and <br />WHEREAS, the "JAG" provides funding to allow, among others, local governments to <br />support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based upon local needs and <br />conditions; and <br />and <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the grant funding period is far March 1, 2011 through September 30, 2011; <br />WHEREAS, the maximum grant award is $30,000.00, with no required local fund match; <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Police, if successful in obtaining JAG funding, would like to <br />acquire in car radio and video systems; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for participation and funding, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the 2011 JAG; and does further authorize the Mayor <br />to accept the award and execute a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if successful <br />in the grant application. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for participation (November 30, 2011); and further, provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and <br />be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />r <br />PASSED: First Reading: 3 • ` C,
