Resolution No. 2006-81 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council believes that state and local elected officials are elected to do a <br />job -that job is to represent the interests of their constituents, to deal with difficult decisions, to <br />thoughtfully debate and determine the best course of action for the state or the community they serve. <br />SECTION 2: That this Council opposes the proposed changes to the Ohio Constitution that <br />would arbitrarily constrain state and local governments' ability to effectively realize and allocate the tax <br />resources needed to meet the people's needs through a representative democracy, and supports efforts to <br />defeat the proposed changes to the Ohio Constitution. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately <br />necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for the reason that it is <br />necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately so that the residents of the City of North <br />Olmsted be educated regarding the process; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~ ~~ 01.00,E <br />A <br />B RBARA L.
