Appendix B-13 <br />~~. <br />LIFT STATION ATTENDANT <br />Nature of Work <br />• This is responsible semi-skilled mechanical and manual labor work <br />of a physically demanding nature. <br />Work involves maintenance of overflows, meter chambers, pumping sta- <br />. tions, and ejector stations as directed by the Systems Foreman, Assistant <br />Superintendent - Systems, or Superintendent. <br />Examples of Work <br />Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of wastewater <br />pumping stations and ejector stations. <br />As required, painting of pumping and ejector stations, inside and out; <br />painting of meter boxes and meter poles; and any other painting to related <br />structures as assigned. <br />Operates a variety of standard construction and maintenance equipment; <br />such as, compressors, air blowers, portable generator, dri 1 )s, and other <br />machines as required and as a necessary adjunct to normal duties. <br />As required, keeps records of al 1 work performed; reports need for <br />materials and equipment where and when needed. <br />As required, cleaning; such as, washing walls and windows in pumping <br />stations or where assigned. <br />Assists Systems Foreman in repai rs to meter chambers, overflows, <br />pumping stations, and ejector stations as required. <br />Work can be characterized by assignment to rotating shifts where <br />needed or as ordered by the Superi ntendent. <br />Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills <br />Considerable knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and modern tech- <br />niques commonly used in public works, utility construction, and main- <br />tenance activities. <br />Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary in <br />pumping operations and maintenance work. <br />Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with <br />employees and the general public. <br />Ability to participate in the work of maintenance and performing varied <br />tasks and to ob to i n effective results . <br />-176- <br />
