Appendix B-13 ~~. LIFT STATION ATTENDANT Nature of Work • This is responsible semi-skilled mechanical and manual labor work of a physically demanding nature. Work involves maintenance of overflows, meter chambers, pumping sta- . tions, and ejector stations as directed by the Systems Foreman, Assistant Superintendent - Systems, or Superintendent. Examples of Work Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of wastewater pumping stations and ejector stations. As required, painting of pumping and ejector stations, inside and out; painting of meter boxes and meter poles; and any other painting to related structures as assigned. Operates a variety of standard construction and maintenance equipment; such as, compressors, air blowers, portable generator, dri 1 )s, and other machines as required and as a necessary adjunct to normal duties. As required, keeps records of al 1 work performed; reports need for materials and equipment where and when needed. As required, cleaning; such as, washing walls and windows in pumping stations or where assigned. Assists Systems Foreman in repai rs to meter chambers, overflows, pumping stations, and ejector stations as required. Work can be characterized by assignment to rotating shifts where needed or as ordered by the Superi ntendent. Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. Performs related work as required. Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Considerable knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and modern tech- niques commonly used in public works, utility construction, and main- tenance activities. Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary in pumping operations and maintenance work. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public. Ability to participate in the work of maintenance and performing varied tasks and to ob to i n effective results . -176-
