~.
. ~ _ C~if~ of c ~uzf~ C~1zii~f~~
OHIO 4407^
RICHARD W. KOHARIK
Swf ETV DIRECTOR
..
,~ ~`
•.~'
PHONE: ]]]$~~~
REPORT TO COUNCIL
1) We have contacted Mural & Sons about the moving of vacant houses along
the right-of-way for I 480. One of the houses in question is located
at 6304 Stearns Road and is scheduled to be moved tomorrow at 9:00.
The .house mover has informed me that they have two more existing structures
to be moved. They have signed a contract on one of them and feel that the
remaining move will be in the near future.
2) Stop sign at Berkshire and Alden Drives. A traffic counter was placed at
two locations in this area. First, at Berkshire and Tudor, where the
highest amount of traffic allegedly was. This was for northbound traffic.
The counter was set to detect traffic turning left into Tudor Drive. The
average hourly flow of northbound traffic was 128 vehicles, the average
southbound flow was 83 vehicles. The average flow of traffic coming out
of Alden westbound was 25 vehicles per hour with a peak number of vehicles
at 6 p.m. of 40 vehicles. This would give us a total flow in this area
of 236 vehicles per hour. We have no record of vehicular or pedestrian
accidents at this intersection. Once again the Ohio Manual of Traffic
Control Devices states that to warrant a multi-way stop sign there should
be a minimum of 500 vehicles per hour using the intersection with 200 of
these vehicles coming from the minor street. The manual also states that
stop signs shall not be used for speed control.
It is the recommendation of the Police Department that due to the low
volume of traffic at this intersection, a multi-way stop sign not be
placed at this time.
Richard W.
