<, <br />""~~ <br />.,.,J <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />~pfJ RESOLUTION N0. 77 -.Zi`J <br />BY : /~i, <br />A RE OLUTION URGING THE STATE OF OHIO <br />DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS TO ABANDON THE <br />PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF THE STEARNS <br />ROAD INTERCHANGE WHICH IS INCORPORATED <br />INTO THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS FOR I-480 <br />WHEREAS, it is the understanding of this Council that when <br />the State of Ohio Department of Highways originally planned to <br />construct I-480, and more particularly, the interchange to be <br />located at Stearns Road, it was proposed that I-90 and I-480 <br />would be connected by re-located Bassett-Stearns Road and that <br />the portion of said roadway which is the present Stearns Road <br />would be widened beyond its present width, and <br />WHEREAS, the Citizens of the City of North Olmsted, by <br />popular vote rejected a Consent Agreement with respect to the <br />extension and widening of Stearns Road, and <br />WHEREAS, on January 18, 1977, the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted voted by Motion not to grant its consent with <br />respect to the widening of a portion of Stearns Road where the <br />interchange is to be located, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the apparent desire of both the Council and <br />the voters of the City of North Olmsted to refrain from changing <br />the design of Stearns Road as it presently exists, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to communicate with <br />both the administrative and the legislative branches. of the State <br />of Ohio indicating that it is the desire of the City of North <br />Olmsted to have the interchange proposed for Stearns Road, which is <br />a part of the I-480 construction proposal, be eliminated. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: 'The Council of the City of North Olmsted urges <br />the Governor o the State of Ohio and the Legislature of the State <br />of Ohio to take whatever steps are necessary to re-design that <br />section of I-480 which is located in the City of North Olmsted <br />and which has contained in it a proposal for an interchange to be <br />located on Stearns Road. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of this Council be and she is <br />hereby directe to forward a copy of this Resolution to the <br />following named persons: Governor James Rhodes, Congressman <br />Ronald Mottl, Senator Anthony Celebrezze, Senator Jerry Stano, <br />Representative Rocco Colonna, Representative James Betts and <br />Mr. Jackson, Director of the Department of Transportation and <br />the office of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall take effect and be in <br />force rom an after the earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST: <br />G~~~ ~~~ <br />Nora T.
