<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 77 -~iZ <br />BY : G~~ <br />AN 0 DINANCE ESTABLISHING AND FIXING THE <br />COMPENSATION FOR ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS, BOTH <br />WARD AND AT-LARGE, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FOR THE TERM OF OFFICE COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1978 <br />AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1979 AND DECEMBER 31, 1981, <br />RESPECTIVELY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of North Olmsted at Article IV, <br />Section 6, requires the Council to fix the compensation for all elected <br />officials at least Thirty (30) days prior to the filing date of <br />nominating petitions for terms beginning on the next succeeding 1st <br />day of January and <br />WHEREAS, the date for filing nominating petitions. for elected <br />officials in the City of North Olmsted is April 8, 1977, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to establish the <br />compensation for all elected officials in compliance with the Chartex <br />requirements: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the salary to be paid to all Council Members, <br />both Ward an At-Large, for the term commencing January 1, 1978 and <br />ending December 31, 1979 and December 31, 1981, respectively, shall <br />be in the amount of $4,000.00 per year. <br />SECTION 2: That the compensation as specified in Section 1 <br />hereof is eing established only for the purpose of complying with <br />the Charter requirements as outlined in Article IV, Section 6, and <br />in no way affect any of the other provisions of any ordinance relating <br />to the organizational chart of either administrative or legislative <br />officers. <br />SECTION 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the <br />public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason that it <br />is immediately necessary to comply with the requirements of the Charter <br />of the City of North Olmsted regarding the establishment of salaries <br />at least Thirty (30) days prior to the filing of nominating petitions, <br />and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds <br />of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~~~r.
