JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC <br /> Nature of Work: This is skilled work in the construction, <br /> maintenance, and repair of inechanical equipment, machinery, <br /> apparatus, and facilities at the municipal wastewater pumping <br /> stations and treatment plant. <br /> Work involves responsibility for the performance of a variety of <br /> repair and maintenance tasks in maintaining the efficient and <br /> effective operation of pumping stations and wastewater treatment <br /> plant and related appurtenances and facilities. Incumbents must <br /> be able to use a considerable variety of bench, hand, and machine <br />tw tools requiring accuracy and precision. Assignments are made to <br /> specific jobs and generally incluGb sketches, blueprints, oral, <br />°N" or written instructions. Work is usually performed in cooperat- <br />ow ion with or under the supervision of an Assistant Superintendent - <br /> Maintenance who gives detailed assistance on difficult and complex <br />A. jobs; however, more routine work is performed with considerable <br /> independence. Supervision may be exercised over Mechanic Helpers <br />""'' in specific maintenance and repair activities. Work is reviewed <br /> in process and upon completion by superiors for proper performance <br />"" and adequacy of results. <br />Examples of Work <br />Am <br />ON Operates machine and hand tools in repairing defective parts of <br />pumps, motors, valves, chemical feeders, and related mechanical <br />,.m equipment and recording devices of wastewater pumping station <br />and treatment plant. <br />Replaces defective elements; lubricates bearings; repacks valves <br />and pumps; replaces defective valves, motors, pumps and controls, <br />? etc. <br />-- Performs skilled machine work, welding, steamfitting, plumbing, <br />? and boiler repair; repairs chemical feeders, chlorine machines <br />and heating, circulating and other pumps; repairs water and <br />steam drain lines; assists in the installation of new and repair- <br />ing of old steam, air, water, and chemical lines. <br />May be assigned to operate pumping station and treatment plants on <br />assigned shift for emergency situations. <br />Occasionally operates light automotive equipment; such as, trucks, <br />front end loaders, and tractors. <br />'"rr' Does limited skilled work with lathes, drill presses, and other <br />„m precision machining devices; and does incidental carpentry, <br />painting, masonry, and cement work. <br />aw <br />Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br />Mk <br />,N„ Performs related work as required. <br />ow <br />rr <br />EXHIBIT B-7 <br />-54-
