V.I1't#V .?f Wjax#4 f1DXxtts#Eb
0H10 44070
OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
ROBERT W. SWIETYNIOWSKI
MAYOR
T0: North Olmsted City Council DATE
FROM: Robert W. Swietyniowski,
Mayor
Dear Mrs. Campbell:

Phone: 777-8000
April 26, 1979
SUBJECT: Veto of Ordinance No.
79-42
I am returning to you Ordinance No. 79-42, which I am vetoing.
Council proposes to provide an expense allowance of five dollars
($5.00) per month to members of the City's Board of Zoning Appeals,
to cover gasoline expenses. While I fully agree that compensa-
tion to these nonpaid public servants is justified, I am deeply
concerned that members of other City Boards and Commissions have
not been offered similar compensation.
Service on a City Board or Commission is a responsibility which
is appreciated by the Administration. And we are aware that there
are at times expenses involved, including not only gasoline, but
the most valued commodity of all, the time spent by each member.
Members' time and expertise are irreplacable. Moreover, there is
no way to place a price on it.
I therefore regretfully veto Ordinance No. 79-42.
Very truly yours,
OF NORTH OLMSTED
.
?
Robert W. Swietyniowski
Mayor
