CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76- ~')9 <br />By : G~/... / <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE AP- <br />PLICATION AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION, FOR A GRANT FOR <br />EXPANSION OF THE RECREATION COMPLEX, AND DECLAR- <br />ING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the operation of the Recreation Complex of <br />the City of North Olmsted is being hampered in its service to <br />the general public, particularly the elderly, the handicapped <br />and users with small children by the lack of space for community <br />organizations, youth groups and the aged, in the present <br />Recreation Complex, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted does not have suf- <br />ficient funds or the bonding capacity on hand to expand the <br />Recreation Complex as proposed, and <br />WHEREAS, the United States Government, through the <br />United States Department of Commerce, Economic Development <br />Administration, has made funds available through P.L. 94-369 <br />Sec. 107 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to <br />various government jurisdictions, and <br />WHEREAS, upon the recommendation of the Administra- <br />tion, this Council deeds it to be in the best interest of the <br />residents of the City of North Olmsted to authorize the Mayor <br />to make application for and enter into an agreement with the <br />United States Department of Commerce for a federal grant for <br />the purpose of expanding the Recreation Complex, <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYA~OGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to <br />make application to the United States Department of Commerce <br />for federal funds to assist the City of North Olmsted in ex- <br />panding the Recreation Complex. <br />Section 2: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to <br />execute a contract with the United States Department of Com- <br />merce for the processing of financial assistance. <br />Section 3: That this resolution is hereby declared to <br />be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preserva- <br />tion of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is immediately necessary to expand the Re- <br />creation Complex to serve a greater number of people and <br />further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members elected to Council it shall take effect <br />and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by <br />the Mayor. <br />PASSED : A~ ~ ~ ~~~ <br />At~~ - _ _ - -- __ -- - - <br />Nora T.
