CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />~~ RESOLUTION N0. 76 - <br />B Y : G~Gcr <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CONSTRUCTION <br />OF AN ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION LINE IN THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AND REPEALING <br />RESOLUTION N0. 69 - 160. <br />WHEREAS, this Council previously adopted Resolution No. 69 - <br />160 approving the construction of an electric transmission line by <br />The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company within the City of <br />North Olmsted, and <br />WHEREAS, the specifications have since changed with respect <br />to the height of steel towers to be used with respect to said <br />installation, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve the <br />construction of said electric transmission line in accordance with <br />the updated specifications. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the approval of the City of North Olmsted <br />is hereby given The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company to <br />survey, construct, operate, maintain, and reconstruct, a steel <br />tower, intercity, electric transmission line through the City of <br />North Olmsted upon a right-of-way owned by The Cleveland Electric <br />Illuminating Company. The line will enter the City of North Olmsted <br />at the west boundary line on the south side of an existing transmission <br />line (Avon-Fowles) about 0.3 of a mile northwest of Lorain Road. From <br />this point the line will run in a southeasterly distance of approxi- <br />mately 1.2 miles to a point 0.4 of a mile southeast of Barton Road. <br />This 1.2 miles of line adjacent to the existing transmission line will <br />be an average of 50 feet of additional width. From this angle point <br />the line will run in a southerly direction in a right-of-way averaging <br />110 feet wide for a distance of approximately 0.1 of a mile, leaving <br />the City of North Olmsted at its south boundary about 0.4 of a mile <br />east of Barton Road. The total right-of-way through the City of <br />North Olmsted is approximately 1.3 miles. <br />SECTION 2: That the steel tower, intercity, electric trans- <br />mission dine s~Fia~l be constructed in accordance with the highest safety <br />standards for such lines; that said line shall be so constructed and <br />maintained that power is automatically and instantly cut off in the <br />event that the line should break or fall; that said line shall be <br />constructed on steel towers which will average 120 feet in height <br />with conductors averaging 45 feet above the ground, with spacing <br />between steel towers on each line from 600 to 1,000 feet, depending <br />upon topography and other site conditions, that the steel tower, <br />intercity, electric transmission line will carry 345,000 volts. <br />SECTION 3: That the within described steel tower, intercity, <br />electric transmission line is necessary for the service, convenience, <br />and welfare of the public served by The Cleveland Electric Illuminating <br />Company in the City of North Olmsted and in a number of other additional <br />political subdivisions, that the line will extend the benef..its o_f_ <br />interconnection to the entire Northeast Ohio area; that the line will <br />permit the use of larger, more efficient turbogenerators for power <br />pooling purposes, emergency and economy interchange of power, and <br />significant improvement in reliability of_ the entire electric system, <br />and that the line will strengthen national security. <br />.. ..... ,.:.,r........ an..
