CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO . 74 - /~/ <br />BY:/~ ®~ <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY MAYORS <br />AND CITY MANAGERS ASSOCIATION TO ESTABLISH A <br />PERMANENT AND ON-GOING REVIEW MECHANISM TO <br />STUDY ANY PROPOSED INCREASE IN UTILITY RATES. <br />WHEREAS, the services and product furnished by the various public <br />utilities are an important and essential part of the daily life of <br />every resident of Cuyahoga Cou nty, and <br />WHEREAS, it is important that the rates charged for such services <br />be fair and that any increase in such rates be justified to and <br />understood by the people, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council feels that each legislative authority has <br />a responsibility and duty to its citizens to thoroughly examine the <br />basis of any proposed rate increase before adopting an official and <br />public position on same, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council feels that this can best be accomplished <br />by establishing a permanent on-going review mechanism to collect data <br />and information and to review same on behalf of all the municipalities <br />in Cuyahoga County; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Mayor and the Council do hereby request the <br />Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers Association to establish a <br />permanent and on-going review mechanism to study all proposed increases <br />in rates that may be requested by any public utility company serving <br />Cuyahoga County. <br />SECTION 2: That such review procedure shall include provisions <br />that the results of each study shall be formalized in writing and made <br />available to the members of the Association. Such written report <br />may contain their findings, both pro and con.
