CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 74 - ~~j~ <br />~, <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE STATE AND FEDERAL <br />GOVERNMENTS TO TAKE APPROPRIATE STEPS IN <br />THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A REGULATORY AGENCY <br />FOR THE CONTROL AND OPERATION OF SOLID <br />WASTE DISPOSAL PLANTS ON A REGIONAL BASIS, <br />TOGETHER WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE <br />APPROPRIATE FINANCIAL STRUCTURE OF <br />REGIONAL SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL PLANTS. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has, on a limited basis, <br />conducted a program of solid waste recycling and has found the <br />program achieved only limited success, and <br />WHEREAS, the Long Range Planning Committee of Council has <br />investigated the problem of solid waste disposal, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the members of said committee <br />that the problem of solid waste disposal can only be overcome <br />through the establishment of regional districts regulated and <br />financed through either a State or Federal regulating agency, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council is aware of the problems in the area of <br />solid waste disposal and, through that awareness, recommends the <br />establishment of regional solid waste disposal plants designed to <br />recycle waste with the ultimate end of preserving natural resources <br />and maintaining a pollution free environment; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Council and the Administration of the <br />City of North Olmsted do hereby recommend and strongly urge the <br />State and Federal Government to take all appropriate steps to <br />set up the necessary regulatory agencies fir the control and opera- <br />tion of solid waste disposal plants on a regional basis and to further <br />provide adequate financial support for the construction of such <br />regional facilities. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to <br />mail certified copies of this resolution to United States Senator <br />Elect John Glenn, State Senator Elect A~thoay Celebrezze, Jr., <br />Congressman Elect Ronald Mottl, Governor Elect James Rhodes and <br />State Representative Elect James Betts. <br />SECTION 3: That this resolution shall take effect and be <br />in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law. <br />~-- <br />PASSED: ~/, /~~~'' <br />~-, ~ , <br />G' <br />ATTEST: ~~//1/ .~J ~ / / ; <br />~: ` ~. <br />NORA T.
