°,, <br />-~-~, <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 74 -` <br />~,.~,s- <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE <br />APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A GRANT FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF NEW BUSES FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED <br />MUNICIPAL BUS LINE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the operation of the North- Olmsted Municipal Bus Line <br />is being hampered in its operation due to the lack of new buses, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted does not have sufficient <br />funds on hand to meet the needs of the bus line in the acquisition <br />of new buses, and <br />WHEREAS, the United States Government adopted the Urban Mass <br />Transportation Act of 1964, which is administered through the Depart- <br />ment of Transportation, Urban Mass Transportation Administration, <br />for the purpose of providing financial assistance to municipalities <br />in the area of mass transportation, and <br />WHEREAS, upon the recommendation of the Administration, this <br />Council deems it to be in the best interest of the residents of the <br />City of North Olmsted to authorize the Mayor to make application to <br />the Department of Transportation, Urban Mass Transportation Adminis- <br />tration, for a federal grant for the purpose of acquiring new buses; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to make appli- <br />cation to the United States Department of Transportation, Urban <br />Mass Transportation Administration, by virtue of the Mass Trans- <br />portation Act of 1964 for federal funds to assist the City of North <br />Olmsted in the purchase of new buses. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute <br />whatever documents are required by the United States Department of <br />Transportation, Urban Mass Transportation Administration for the <br />processing of an application for financial assistance. <br />SECTION 3: That this ordin <br />emergency measure immediately ne <br />public health, safety and welfar <br />is immediately necessary to yeti <br />service so as to continue to pro <br />citizens of North Olmsted, and f <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds o <br />shall take effect and be in fore <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSgD: ~ ~~,~~5~ <br />ATTEST: <br />ance is hereby declared to be an <br />cessary for the preservation of the <br />e, and for the further reason that it <br />re older buses and place new buses in <br />vide the needed transportation to the <br />urther provided it receives the <br />f all members elected to Council, it <br />e immediately upon its passage and <br />NORA T.
