CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO . 7 5 - ~Q~ <br />BY : ~~ ~~-e.-~et~.~, y <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1303 OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE .CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ENTITLED "HEAT AND AIR-CONDITIONING INSULATION <br />STANDARDS," AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council heretofore has adopted standards with <br />respect to insulation which are now out-dated; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to adopt up-dated standards for the <br />purpose of conserving energy; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That Chapter 1303 of the Codified Ordinances of the <br />City of North Olmsted as enacted by Ordinance No. 73-145 be, and the <br />same is, hereby amended to read as follows: <br />1303.01 Insulation Requirements bV Construction Types <br />Every new residential dwelling structure, or any new <br />addition to a dwelling structure, shall have properly <br />installed thermal insulation with the following R,/resistance <br />factors according to the building sections in which it is <br />installed. <br />(a) Exterior Walls <br />1. Frame Walls - R/11. <br />2. Masonry walls above the frost line, including <br />walls in living areas anti. basements - R/5. <br />3. Other fabricated. exterior walls above grade - R/11. <br />(b) Ceilings <br />1. Conventional horizontal ceilings under ventilated <br />attic spaces - R/22. <br />2. Cathedral ceilings with conventional interior <br />finish shall have insulation between roof rafters <br />- X22. <br />3. Cathedral ceilings with exposed beams and roof <br />sheathing for interior finish shall have built-up <br />roof insulation - R,/11. <br />(c) Floors <br />1. Frame floors over unheated areas - R/22. <br />2. Slab-on-grade floors shall have insulation at <br />
