!KINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL
<br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
<br />JUhY 27, 1960 - `~ ;11G P.M.
<br />Present were Paul J. Gateau, Mayor; Bruce MacDonald, President of
<br />Council; Henry Caster, Ralph Christman, Dewey Limpert, Lillian
<br />Nicholas, Francis J. 4tNeill, George H. Porter III.
<br />Also present were W. L. Gerlach, Auditor; C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor
<br />and Eleanor Ruple, Assistant Clerk.
<br />Absent was A. L. Mangani.
<br />Mr. MacDonald explained the purpose of the meeting was to have his
<br />signature, as acting mayor, removed from the legislation that was
<br />passed at the meeting of Council Ju7,q 19, 1960. He stated that he
<br />felt, even though 2;e acted correctly in signing the legislation, due
<br />to the Mayor being on vacation in Canada, that to avoid another
<br />threatened law suit and for the best interest of the City he would
<br />ask Council to give him permission to remove his signature from the
<br />legislation to permit the Mayor to either sign or veto the legislation
<br />at his discretion.
<br />Ordinance No. 3085 was introduced by Mr. Limpert. An ordinance repealing
<br />Ordinance No. 3071, enacted July 19, 1960, being an ordinance amending
<br />sections 1 and 2 of ordinance No. 2901, enacted August 18, 1959, entitled
<br />110rdinance providing for part-time secretary for and to assist the
<br />solicitor for the Gity of North Olmsted, and providing compensation
<br />therefort1, and declaring an emergency. It was moved by Mr. Limpert,
<br />seconded by Mr. O~Neill, that the statutory rule be suspended and the
<br />ordinance be read immediately the second and third times and put on
<br />its passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was as follows:
<br />Caster, Christman, Limpert, Nicholas, O+Neill, Porter. Thereupon
<br />the ordinance was read the second and third times and put upon its
<br />passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as follows: Caster,
<br />Christman, Limpert, Nicholas, OeNeill, Porter.
<br />A motion was made by Mrs. Nicholas, seconded by Mr. Porter, that the
<br />President of Council, as acting Mayor, name be stricken from the
<br />legislation passed by Council, July 19, 1960, so that the Mayor can
<br />pezmit the placing thereon the signature of the Mayor who returned
<br />to the City July 23, 1960. "Yeas++ Caster, Christman, Limpert, Nicholas,
<br />O'Neill, Porter.
<br />A motion was made by Mrs. Nicholas, seconded by Mr. OeNeill, that the
<br />Solicitor be requested to draw legislation where by any elected or
<br />appointed official of the City, notify the Clerk of Council of their
<br />absence fmm the City, in excess of one (1} week, and require the
<br />phone number and address where they can be reached. efYeas++ Caster,

<br />A motion was made by Mr. Porter, seconded by Mr. Limpert, directing
<br />the Clerk to notify the Board of II.ections to return the copies of
<br />Ordinance Nos. 3077, 3078, 3079, 3080 until the Mayor either signs
