MINIITES OF A MEETING OF THE COIINCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />DECEMBER 16, 1958 - 8:11 P.M. <br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Ralph A. Hazslton, President of <br />Council; James Hinkel, Eddie Hixson, Wm. H. Kramer, Mary Alice Lynch, <br />Francis O'Neill, James Wilson, and Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director. <br />Absent: Bruce MacDonald, and Carl F. Hasttich, Safety Director. <br />Also present were C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; E. M. Christman, Clerk; and <br />Alex Kanareff, Engineer. Absent: Alice Dobbins, Treasurer. <br />The minutes of December 2nd were approved as read. <br />The Mayor reported relative to a communication from the County Engineer's <br />Office, together with an Ordinance of Consent to be adopted for a program <br />of repair and maintenance by the County of Certain streets and roads within <br />the City, and recommended passage of the ordinance. <br />In the absence of Mr. MacDonald, Mr. Hixson reported for the Street Committee <br />and submitted the following to be included with the Ordinance of Consent <br />as a recommended program, in the following sequence: <br />Walter Road <br />Canterbury Road - Lorain Road North to Westlake line <br />Fitch Road <br />Clague Road - Repair and Widen through North Olmsted <br />Barton Road - Lorain Road North to Westlake line and <br />widen. <br />Barton Road - Lorain Road South to Township line. <br />Porter Road - Lorain North to Westlake and widen. <br />Gessner Road <br />Stearns Road <br />Kennedy Ridge Road. <br />The Service Director reported three ponds have been flooded for ice <br />skating, one at North Olmsted Park, one at Mastick Stables, one at <br />Columbia Road, and a fourth, at the Sportsmaa's Club is being worked <br />on to get the embankment solid enough to hold water. <br />The Service Director requested Council's approval to advertise for bids <br />for the recapping of tires for City equipment. <br />The Service Director requested action of Council for several employees <br />of the Bus Department who have been unable to take their vacations this <br />year, whether consideration be given to reimburse them for the time, or <br />to be carried over to the following year. <br />The Police Department was complimented on their action when they discovered <br />a window open at a gasoline station, and should be commended for their <br />action. <br />The Mayor requested action by Council to reflect the Service Director to <br />assume the duties of the Safety Director while he is convalescing. It <br />was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mr. Wilson, the Service Director bs <br />acting Safety Director while Carl Haettich is convalescing. "Yeas" Hinkel, <br />Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, O'Neill, Wilson. <br />A communication was read from the Community Hospital requesting Council to <br />appoint a delegate to attend the annual conference to be held January 19th <br />at the Berea High School Building. The President of Council appointed <br />Mr. Kramer as Delegate to this conference. <br />A communication was read from the North Olmsted Planning Commission, <br />stating that on December 9th a motion was passed to accept Suburbanite <br />Homes Subdivision pending Council's approval, that on November 11th plans <br />were submitted for a sewer package plant approved by the County, and <br />on November 25th the problem of assessing, the eventual tieing in to <br />the North Olmsted sewer, and the problem of assessing for maintenance <br />and service were discussed. The matter was turned over to the Finance <br />Chairman to meet with the Engineer and Solicitor for further study. <br />(Correction - The matter was turned over to the Finance Chairman, <br />Mr. Wilson, as a member of the Sewer Committee in Mr. MacDonald's <br />absence.) <br />
