MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />GF THE CITY OF NORTH OLP~ST~D, OHIO <br />NOVEMBER 18, 1958 - 8:08 P. M. <br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Ralph A. Hazelton, President of <br />Council; James Hinkel, Eddie Hixson, irJm. H. Kramer, Mary Alice Lynch, <br />Francis O'Neill, James Wilson, Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; and <br />Carl F. Haettich, Safety Director. Absent: Bruce MacDonald. <br />Also present were C. J. Cviatt, Solicitor; E. M. Christman, Clerk; <br />Alice Dobbins, Treasurer; and Alex Kanareff, Engineer. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of the Council, 1Voyember 5th, were <br />approved as corrected. <br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting of November 11th, were also approved <br />as corrected. <br />The Mayor reported relative to a communication from the City of Cleveland, <br />that effective immediately all plans for water mains must be resubmitted <br />for approval. <br />The Mayor read a communication from the County of Cuyahoga, District <br />Board of Health, which enclosed contract for health service for the year <br />1959. The rate had been increased to fifty cents (50~) per capita, <br />based on the 1958 estimated population of 10,542, supplied by the Bureau <br />of Census of the State Department of Health. <br />The Mayor reported he had received a communication from the County <br />Auditor's Cffice giving the inside and outside ten-mill assessment <br />based upon taxes collected in the general fund of $327,147.00. <br />The Mayor appointed Palph A. Hazelton, and Carl F. Haettich, as representa- <br />tives to the Greater Cleveland Safety Council, and asked for approval of <br />Council. It was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mr. Wilson, the appoint- <br />ments be confirmed. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, O'Neill, <br />Wilson. <br />The .Service Director reported he had received a communication from the <br />Housing and Hbme Finance Agency, Community Facilities Administration <br />relative to the funds advanced in the amount of $27,737.13, requesting <br />information as to the status of construction. <br />The Mayor reported Mr. Harold A4ahony, with an engineering firm from Texas <br />offered to finance the sewer program. <br />Mrs. Tuttle appeared before Council complaining of twenty-six (26) inches <br />of water in her basement. She lives at the Corner of Claque and Clifford <br />Avenue. The Service Director stated the top of the catch basins were <br />taken off and the water seemed to be flowing freely, and believed the <br />hook-up on the sewer from her home was nct proper. Nir. W~.lson will <br />check it. <br />Nr. Hinkel, Chairman of the Safety Committee reported Committee had met <br />and would like a ruling from the Solicitor on the Rules and Regulations <br />of the Fire Department, before adoption. <br />~:. <br />The Safety Committee recommended moving a sign on Lorain and Brookpark <br />Road for aiding the traffic into the Shopping Center. The sign is to be <br />moved westerly to give the traffic rare time to move into the proper <br />lane. <br />The Safety Committee recommended an ordinance to the effect that there <br />should be no "U" turns permitted ~.~ithin 500 ft. of a traffic light. <br />The Safety Committee recommended no left turn entering Brookpark from <br />Lorain Road, one sign at the exit of Silverdale, and the other on <br />Lorain Road facing East before Silverdale. <br />Examinations tar Lieutenant for the Fire Department and Folice Department <br />are to be held December 12th, at the North Olmsted Community Cabin. All <br />Sergeants of the Police Department and Firemen with twenty-four months <br />of service ase eligible. <br />
