<br />The Safety-Service Director advis~;d the Board of Control a~:arded +~,e h:id ..for
<br />the leasing of two Police Cars to the Greyhound Rent-A-Car, Irc.
<br />f~esolution No. 2515 was introduced by .•r. Decker: !~ Resolut~_on authorizing
<br />the Safety Director to enter into a conaract for the leasing of two motor
<br />vehioles for use by the Police Department. It i~ras moved b_,,~ Mr. Decker,
<br />seconded by Tex. MacDonald that the statutorJ rule be susT ended and the resolu-
<br />tior. be read immr.ediately the second and third times and pu.t on its passage.
<br />The affirmative vote on said motion was as follows: Crider, Decker, Kramer,

<br />The Safet,;-Service Director stated he had numerous comYlaints Gbout the ri.p~r_le::
<br />on Lorain Road.
<br />Dr. Lewis read tyre :reply to his le+,,ter of July 17th to Governor O~D7eill dated
<br />July 25th, which road in part as follows; "I have thoroughly read your report
<br />and comments concerning State Route 10, and am sorry that your oriinal
<br />communication of last January, in this same regard, was not acknotiledged.
<br />E'~t about that tune, when that Department was undergoing a process of reorgani.za-
<br />tion, it is easy to realize how it could have been misplaced or overlooked,
<br />I can well aplreciate t;he concern of the citizens of North Olmsted. Kindly ~,e
<br />assured that this is immediately being referred to Director Charles Noble of
<br />our Dez~artm^.ent of Highways -- urging his promrt consideration of this matter,
<br />especially in light of yous~ comments,"
<br />The Safety-Service Director appointed Harry Hird as Dog -:harden, effective
<br />August 7th, 1957, compensation 100.00 per month. Motion ~r-:.s made by :~~r.

<br />T~Ir. Dectcer, stated that the Bureau of Inspection recornrrend.ed that ~,;e have
<br />an Ass istartr'ire Chief and two Lieutenants. Inasmuch as tl~e Civil ~~ervice
<br />Comnmission had been instructed to give examinations for a Captain and two
<br />Lieutenants, it ~.~•as recon~nended that Vre amend our resolution to read,
<br />"assistant Chief and. two Lieutenants, a,nd t'i~e Civil ;;ervic:e Comrrtssion to
<br />try to give the examinations dxtring August.
