April 7, 1964 - Page 2 <br />He also reported that the end of the bus line is being extended to the Big Barn in North <br />Ridgeville, where aturn-around has been provided, as well as parking for bus patrons, <br />Director Limpert reported that he has been working on a tree-plant.ing program, He has <br />been checking out the Forest Ridge area with Mr, Scanlon, <br />Mr. Dewe.y Lrmpert announee.d a Transportation Committee meeting April 13th at 7:30 at <br />City Ha11, <br />Mr. Leonard, chairman of Liquor Control Committee reported on their meeting of April <br />Ist, They have nd objecfiions to the transfe:rs of liquor permits of which the Council <br />has been notified as of this date. Mr.WoodFrorth of the County Board of Health is to <br />be not2fied of this fact by the Clerk. <br />Mr, Leonard, chairman of the Public Utilitie,s Committee, reported that his committee <br />met April lst to consider two items presente.d to Mayor Christman by the City of <br />Clevelan3 regarding new v.rater lines. Item 1 was the proposal to charge $17.00 per <br />year against property owners who are to be benefitted by new water main extensions in. <br />existi.ng streets. Ttem 2 was entering a new contract with the City of Gleveland for <br />furnishing water to NOrth Olmsted. <br />With regard to Item 1, the commrttee gave favorable consideration to the $17.00 annual <br />assessmant, It woubd accumulate, and eventually would be applied to sewer costs. A <br />representative of the City Water Department is to meet with the City of North Olmsted <br />f or cons iderat ion if Item 2. . <br />Mr, Mangani reported the Planning Committee ttnet March 23rd to review the new platting <br />drdinance in detail. As a result it was turned over to the City Engineer, so that he <br />might consult with the LaTA' Director before it is presented to Council. <br />Mr, Mangani also reported that on April 6th several members of Council met with the <br />Friends af the Zibrary, The library is in dire need of larger quarters, a bigger staff <br />and more volumes. The County has told them if then can obtain a building the County <br />wi11 work with the library on staffing and furnishing more volumes. A site will be <br />donated by the School Board, on Butternut Ridge west of the Junior High School, and it <br />was suggEst.ed that financing be put on the ballot, possibly in the amount of $200,000, <br />but an estimate would have to be in the hands of the Board of Elections by late June. <br />Mayor Christman feels that insafficient study has been given by the Comcnittee, and <br />since Congressman Minshall informed the Mayoi° matching funds are available, the Mayor <br />suggests that Mr. Minshall be contacted further on this proposition and more f actual <br />information be obtained befcre making estimat:es and plans for the ballot in November. <br />Mr, Leonard asked that a commLttee from Friends of the Library meet with Mayor Christman <br />and that facts and figures be supplied the engineer so that he can report back at the <br />next Council meeti.ng with some idea of what can be done, and what the cost would be. <br />A letter received fram the Ch.amber of Commerce, offering the loan of an aerial view of <br />Lorain and Dover Roads, take.n before the pre:oent development, was read. The Safety- <br />Se,rvice. Director advised hE ceuld have it put: on the East wall of the Council Chamber. <br />Mr, Philip Daytan of Hamptcn Drive presented a petition to the Clerk of Council, signed <br />by 204 residents of Farest Park and vicinity, protesting any action toward developing a <br />swimming cli:b and/or pool, ei.ther public or private, on any residential zoned properties <br />fronting mn Lansing Drive, requesting Council to take action to prevent the establishment <br />of such a swim club, and requesting that the present zoning ordinance wfi ich permits a <br />"country c1ub99 in "single residential" zaned areas be amended to require a larger <br />minimum land arEa for any such country club. <br />
