MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF TFIE COUNCTL <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OI,MSTED, OHIO <br />June 2, 1964 <br />8:05 P.M. <br />Present: Mayor Ralph Christman; President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill; Vi.rginia <br />Hodgins; James Leonard; Dewey Limpert; A. L. Mangani; Norman Van Zandt; Jorin West, <br />Absent: Henry Caster. <br />Also present: J. Bruce Kftchen, Director of Law; Richard Labas, City Engineexy <br />Les Macs, Chairman of the Planning Comm.issian; Margaret West, Clerk. <br />Roll was called. <br />Minutes of t.he last meeting were read and appraved. <br />The Mayor expressed thanks to the Leagu.e of Women Voters for heTping the Clerk <br />of Council in getting notices mailed for a public hearing dn June 9th, He also <br />thanked the Sherwin-Williams Co. for their help in folding and inserting the <br />notices in envelopes for us. <br />Mayor Christman reported a letter is be.ing sent: to the County Commissioner, an <br />the advice of the County Engineer, aski.ng for sssisstance in extending culverts <br />where sidewalks will go in. <br />The Mayor announced that the May Compan.y broke ground for their new store in Narth <br />Olmsted on June lst, and that it is hoped the building will be in operation ??y <br />September, 1965. <br />The 42" pipe within Westlake, which that city was going to remove, was found to be <br />on private land, and Westlake is unwill.ing or unable to remove them. A course of <br />action to force removal of the pipe is being studied. <br />In the absence of the Safety-Service Di.rector, the Mayor reported that schnal <br />flasher lights are up at Chestnut School. At St, Richard's they are up, but not. <br />wired. The rest will be installed in t.ime for the fall semester, and the traffic <br />light at Butternut and Dover will also be up iri time for the fall school session. <br />The culvert improvement south of Maple Ridge has been started. <br />Engineer Labas reported the sidewalk plans are ready to go to the Planning Com- <br />mission next week, and the following we:ek they will be presented to Council. <br />Mrs. Hodgins reported the Safety Commit:tee meeting on May 16th was incomplete, and <br />the minutes were not read. <br />Mr. Limpert, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, reported on a committee <br />meeting June lst with Mr. Welford from the adverti.sing bureau in charge of signs <br />on the sides of our buses. The purpose: of the mee.ting was discussion of putting <br />signs on the new buses. In the past there has been damage from corrosion, which <br />makes them rather reluctant. New framE:s are avail.able for buses, which should <br />minimize any damage. A sign frame size: 21 x 36 casts $6.00 and rents for $5,85 <br />per month per space, a fee which is split between the advertising agency and the <br />City. A 21 x 44 frame costs $7,34 and rents for $7,50; a 21 x 72 frame costs $11,73 <br />and rents for $20. The 30 x 144 size costs $15 and rents for $37,50., The matter <br />is being turned over to the Safety Service Director for a decision as to whether: or <br />
