Q'Neill; Henry <br />an Vari Zandt; ;Tohn Gle.st , <br />I.,, Gerlach, Director o_f F;.ran, ?- <br />City Engineer, Margaret West, <br />I`he minutes of the meeting of Jucae 16, 19,64 were approved as corrected, <br />Mayor Christman annaunced the rerignat?.on of Marvin Smith £ram the Board of <br />Appeals, and requested approval or the appointment ot George Schaaf to the vacanr_:<;- <br />Mayor Christman reported contacting the C-ounty Engineers for their passible para,x- <br />sipation in extending cuiverts oca c:ounty raads where sidewalks ar.e being cnnsti:,jeted: <br />He indicated the County may participate up to 50% in the extensions. <br />Because extra police and firemen were not put on during the first half of 1964; rt,,ere <br />as money available far salaries for one additional policeman and one additianal <br />man for the rest of 1964. The h(ayor askei3 for Council's approval, through the <br />proper committees, f.or th.e addit ional po1 iceman and f ireman. <br />The Ma ar re orted he has done some checkin inta the use of <br />;. y p g portable truek scales <br />for weighing trucks in different communities, and wouid like the Finance Committee <br />to consider expenditure of $2,500 to buy scales, and the hiring of two additional <br />galicemen for the use and operatinn of these scales. <br />In regard to the TV report on sewer checking, Mayor Christman asked the Public <br />Devalopment to consider legislation requiring that all new sewer installations <br />be photographed after being tested and be:Eore being accepted. <br />At this point President 0'Neill announced that the Public Hearing on the 1965 Budget <br />was open for comtnents. There being no coiuments concerning the Budget, Council <br />proceeded with its regular business. <br />The Safety-Service Director presented reports for the month of June from the Fire <br />Department and the Building Department. <br />City Engineer Labas reported the asphalt slag surface tceatment specifications and <br />the slurry seal specifications are on file to be advertised. A priority street <br />surfacing list was distributed showing streets to be resurfaced in 1964, Special <br />streets, such as Walters, may be coming up soon for resurfacing because of thei.r <br />condition. This would be over and above the streets listed, Kennedy Ridge, Gessner <br />and Maple Ridge are being put off until next year but may require resurfacing at <br />that time. <br />The library preliminary plan, estimate and cost is complete. A report on the pos-- <br />sibility of extending Southern Avenue will be ready by the next council meeting. <br />Three property owners are involved, and two had previously expressed willingness <br />
