<br />MINUTES OF MEETTNG OF TH:E COUNCIL <br />y=?THE CITY OF NORTH OLMS'TED, OAIO <br />July 21, 1964 <br />8:21 P.M. <br />Present: Mayor Ralph Christman; President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill; Henry <br />Caster; Virginia Hodgins; A. L. Mangani; Norman Van Zandt; John West. <br />Also present: J. Bruce Kitchen, Director of Law; D. E. Licqpert, Director of <br />Public Safety and Public Service; Richard Labas, City Engineer; Margaret West, <br />Clerk, <br />Absent: James Leonard and Dewey Limpert <br />Minutes of July 7th were approved as corre:cted. Minutes of the meeting of July <br />8th were approved. Minutes of two meeting;s on July 14 were approved. <br />Safety-Service Director Limpert requested authorization to advertise for bids <br />for 500 tons of salt and 1500 yards of cirLders for the winter months. <br />Mr. Limpert also asked about the status of' his request for hiring a chief inspector. <br />He reported thepurchase of a chlorination unit for the sewage treatment plant, <br />which has already received favorable commE;nt from neighbors of the plant. <br />He reported that a used mosqui:to fogger'hiis been purchased at half the cost of a new <br />one. <br />He announced that bid openings for slurry seal wi11 be on July 24; new busses on <br />July 30th and four-wheel truck on July 31st, <br />He requested that an ordinance be passed providing that policemen and firemen must <br />tiave home telephones. <br />He reported that all weed notices have beE:n sent out, except for three where lot <br />owners have not been located. <br />Mr. Labas reported Southern Avenue extens:ion report is complete, and copies have <br />been furnished to Council. <br />Mrs, Hodgins reported attending a luncheon meeting of the American Automobile Assoc- <br />iation at which North Olmsted was awarded a Pedestrian Safety Citation for two year's <br />achievement of no pedestrian deaths. <br />Mr. Caster reported the Public Service a.nd Development Committee of which he is <br />chairman met on July 14 after Council's special meeting?to discuss the Mayor's request <br />for ordinances covering photographing of new sanitary sewer installations. A <br />request'for legislation on this subject will be submitted to the Law Director after <br />Council reconvenes in the fall. The Committee also discussed Rainbow Drive and the <br />proposed water line. The cost involved is too much for the City, and the comaritteQ <br />will contact residents of Rainbow Drive to see how badly they want water, and how <br />much they are willing to spend to get it. <br />Mr. Mangani reported that the Public Parks, Properties and Recreation Committee <br />how has copies of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as they reque$ted, and they will <br />go into the mattp-r of use of our public properties at their next meeting. <br />
