Page 2 -June 7, 1966 <br />are method of assessinq, have the Engineer shoot the basements on the south <br />side of Southern to determine whether they would have access to any sfiorm sewer, <br />review the assessment from an equitable standpoint considering the north side <br />of Southern and the drainage involved, and have the Enqineer check the size of <br />the drain in relation to the two street openinqs that are held in abeyancee <br />The fact was brought out that distribution of catch basin costs might not be <br />equitable. There is also a question whether it miqht be better to hold up on <br />this assessment, in light of paving and sidewaiks in the near future. <br />Mr. Caster also reported a meetinq was held by his committee with the developer <br />of Park Ridge Subdivision to discuss an extension of Sherwood Drive into the <br />school area. An agreement has been reached, and it will be further discussed <br />with the School Board on June 9th. <br />Mr. Foltz, Chairman of the Leqislative Committee, reported receiving a letter <br />from Police Chief Hird requesting an amendment to our Traffic Code, to include <br />a section covering fast starts at intersections and in drive-in parking lots. <br />Chief Hird also asked for legislation to cover issuance of fraudulent checks <br />in the amount of $60.00 or less, as recommended by the Prosecutor. The Committee <br />is in agreement with both requests, and will ask for legislation to be drawn. <br />Mr. Eian, Chairman of the Safety, Health and Welfare Committee, reviewed the <br />matter of a no parkinq zone on Lorain, on which his Committee split. After a <br />discussion, Mr. Eian requested that Council be polfed for their feelings on a <br />co ban on Lorain Road parking from McKenzie east, on both sides of the street. <br />"Yea" Caster, Eian, Foltz, Hodqins. "No" Limpert, Manganf, West. <br />Mr. Eian then requestEd a poll on a complete ban on parking on both sides of <br />Lorain for its enfiire lenqth. "Yes" Caster, Hodqins, Limpert. "No" Eian, Foltz, <br />Mangani, West. <br />Mr. Eian reported that his committee had also discussed installation of a fence <br />around Safety Town; the use of reflective jackets tor delivery boys; removal of <br />illegally parked cars; the closinq of Fleharty at Brookpark; and a plan for the <br />routing of traffic at the next Homecoming Parade. <br />Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported th <br />met with representatives firom the Sewage Treatment Plant <br />regardinq salaries and recommended adjustments. This is <br />of ineetings to be held in preparinq for the 1967 budget. <br />Council that even though thisis a tentative budget, they <br />comments from any other committees on items that need to <br />at on June 6th they <br />and the Service Department <br />the first of a series <br />Mr. West reminded <br />would appreciate <br />be included. <br />Mr. West reported that his committee recommends purchase of an all-purpose <br />vehicle for the Fire Department and will ask for legislation. <br />The proposed fence around Safety Town was discussed by the Finance Committee, and <br />it was pointed out that the Recreation Commission was asked to set aside money <br />for this. Theydecided not to; therefore there is no money.
