Ma.y 16, 1967 - Page 2 <br />Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee reported on theix actions at <br />their meeting on May 9th. They agreed to request legislation authorizing <br />advertising for bids for a 90-foot aerial articulated boom or arm pumper <br />fire truck with notched cab, equipped according to pamphlet 19, the approxi- <br />mate cost to be $85,000. <br />They also will ask for legislation authorizing the borrowing of $50,000 for <br />six months, to cover City operations until the next large sum is received <br />from the County. <br />The Law Birector reviewed the industrial compensation and liability <br />insurance for city vehicles for the Finance Committee, and will be making <br />recommendations on both. <br />The Finance Committee recommended that Council authorize the City of <br />Cleveland to collect our income tax and that the Finance Director be <br />authorized to enter into such a contract. It was recommended by Mr. <br />Gerlach that the tax staff to begin with consist of two employees, both <br />parttime, an administrator and a secretary. The appropriation ordinance <br />will have to be changed to include an Tncome Tax Department. <br />The Committee also discussed the possibility of having one secretary <br />of all the various boards and comnissions. The Mayor will make a <br />recommendation on this. <br />Mr. Mangani gave a resume of the Planning Commission meeting held on May <br />9th, which both he and Mr. West attended. <br />Mr. Ma.ngani also reported that the North Olmsted Ministerial Association <br />is proceeding with their summer youth program, and read a letter received <br />from their president, the Rev. Mr. Blasius. <br />Mr. West reported on the meeting of a committee from Bretton Ridge, the State <br />Highway Department and Regional Planning which he attended. No decisions <br />were made at the meeting with regard to the praposed Stearns Road inter- <br />change, but preliminary layouts were studied, and in three or four weeks <br />they will have other plans for study. <br />Mr. 0'Neill at this point explained a statement of his which appeared in <br />the newspaper and was quoted out of context. <br />The Clerk read a letter from the North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce asking <br />for support of the Fourth of July Fireworks program again. <br />A letter from Joseph Kadylak relative a transfer of his liquor license from <br />31598 Lorain Road to 23845 Lorain Road was read. <br />Mr. Frank Pinkham, 6595 Barton Road, delivered photostatic copies of a <br />petition to the County Engineer relative to the proposed I-80 interchange <br />at Barton to Council. <br />Mr. Pinkham also questioned Mr. West about his meetings with residents of <br />Bretton Ridge on the proposed I-80 interchange.A considerable discussion <br />ensued. <br />?
