1 : <br />Cfluacil Minutes - 5-26-70 <br />-2- <br />People addressing Council: <br />Mr. John Baudo, 5842 Barton Road, asked if his propertq would stay or <br />be tied up. <br />President 0'Neill aaswered that same would not affect his property. <br />Mr. Reven Ke11y, 4461 Carsten Lane, ssked if the North Olasted Police and <br />Pire Departments feel that this is the proper locatioa as he believes 90% <br />of their alarms are aerviced by Fairview. <br />Mayor Christman answered the Fire Department and Police Degartment do $gree <br />on location and are very happy to see this hospital come into the Citq. He <br />explained further that thia site was chosen uot ottly for the easy accesa to <br />it - right down Lorain Raad, a far essier run gor any place in the City, but <br />also because of the locatias within the Caunty and iCs relatiunship to the <br />other hospiCals. The reaasaa they soatetimes go to Bexea or BayView is that <br />the person who is heing hauled nay be a heart attach patieut sad his doctar <br />is at one of these hospitals. This they do as a waq of service. <br />A gentieman in audience inquired if there is to be improvement an Barton R,oad. <br />piayor Christman stated Bartoa Road coning dowa from Lorain wouid almast of a <br />necessity need an improveamt aad, hopefully, with the facility there iaproae- <br />menC o€ all of Bartan Road would take place. <br />Mr. James Green, Driscoll Lane, inquired if hospital is projected for the <br />populatian we have naw, what about 10 years from now? <br />Mr. Garrett explained that facility ia desigaed to grow and can be eacpattded. <br />Mayor Ghristman commented part of the beauty of this site is that it is large <br />enough to be expanded - a little over 30 acres. <br />Mr. West commented one of the problems in getting a hospital is to $et a <br />Doctor's Board apprnval and, generally, theq du not like auall hospitals. <br />This has been worked an for 3 or 4 years and this is the site they have <br />recomended; stayiag atiray fxom the other hospitals so that theq can eaeh <br />have an area they can handle. <br />Mr. Richard Nelson of the Planning Come?ission, 6164 Foreet Ridge, camaented <br />that peaple in audience might like to knaw hom? this campares in eize as <br />to Fairvtew, etc. <br />Mr. Linpert asked Dr. Lewis, Chief of Staff of Southwest Coammity Hospital, <br />who was in sudience, for a comparisan as ta when Berea Hospita2 started and <br />the capacity it has naw. <br />Dr. Lewis said theq started with 24 beds - they now have 170. Mr. Linpert <br />ssid we are talking fn siae as to what Berea ia now. Dr. LLmis estimated <br />Chat Fairv3eW started with 100 beds and Parma General approxiuately 180 beds. <br />Mr. Kellq, Carsten Lane, then eomsnded Mayor Christam and Council and haped <br />the hospital could get moving sow. <br />
