Council Mfttutes 2-3-70 <br />-z- <br />Com3ttee met on Sgnuszy 21st, with representatives from Ohio Bell <br />and had review+ed the reaaous for a propased rate increase of 14%; <br />some of the reasons being cost of equipment, wage incresses, ete. <br />Tliis is the firsst increase in aver ten years. Mr. Speectling stated <br />the Public Service & Utilities Comittee concurred not to oppoee <br />this increase. <br />Mr. West, Chairiasn Deaign & Plattfng, reported the followfng: 1) <br />This Coamittee met on Jsnuary 29th, at which time Che Decker-Porter- <br />Burns Traffic Study made bq Mr. William T. Jackman, was reviewed re- <br />garding possibie effects of traffic from the S. D. C. Subd'ivisioct. <br />Mr. Jackmsa expanded hfs reporC to include the whole problem area, in <br />which he felt that the Aigh School is the problem. His recomemeadations <br />include an extenaion of Dover Ceattr Road dawn Co the schc>ol property <br />so rhat parents may be able to dreip children off at the eehaol; 2) <br />Mr. j,lest will requeaC legislation uader new buainess for atpproval of <br />plaCting of S. D. C. Subdivision #1 and #2 for record purposes only. <br />At this time, Mr. West gave the Budget presentation for 1970, explaining <br />step by step the 1470 Budget and ccmparing it with the last five qears. <br />The Clerk read s}.etter from Estella King, Vice-President of the Narth <br />Olmsted Jtmior Womm's Club, regerding air pollution in our community. <br />The Preaident of Council then referxed letter to Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman <br />of Public Health & 6ielfare for review with this Committee. <br />The Clerk was requested to read a letter written by Mayor Christman Co <br />the County Commi.ssioners in reference to the Heariag on So2id Glaete <br />Disposal held on January 28, 1970, at which Mayor Christman testffied. <br />People addressing Council as follows: <br />Mr. J. J. Sinmaons, 29603 Lorain Road, inquired as to cost of buses and <br />how same were being paid €or; asked what Council hss to do with apgoint- <br />ing a Trustee of Bretton Ridge aud if recreation ares is self-suppartin$, <br />and questioned where the land is located which was donat+ed bq bui3der for <br />recreational facilities as a result of 10 feet being talcen off the re- <br />quired lot sizes. <br />LEGISLATION: Ordinance No. 70-31 was introdueed by Mr. Boehmex. An <br />Ordinance levying special assessments for the improvetnent of Porter <br />Road and certain other streets and gvblic easements bq construeting <br />senitary sewers, sever curb connecti"s and necessary appurtenances, <br />incl.uding necessary atreet resurfaciug and restoration of drainage <br />facilities (Ccmtract No. 11-Zaae 2), and declaring an effiergencp. Mr. <br />Boehmer naved for suspension of rule requiring three separate readings, <br />secoaded by Mr. LiMart. Affirmative vote Boehmer, Grsdq, Hvdg3ns, <br />Limpert, Prokssy, Speedling, West.
