MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
<br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
<br />SEPTEMBER 2, 1969
<br />Present: President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill, Councilmen Caster, Hodgins,
<br />Limpert, Miller, Prokasy, West.
<br />Absent: CounciYman Eian.
<br />Also Present: Mayor Ra1ph E. Christman, Service Director Watts, Finance
<br />Director William L. Gerlach, Acting City Engineer Michael Karhan,
<br />Law Director J. Bruce Kitchen, Clerk of Council Florence Holm.
<br />The minutes of Council meeting of August 19th were approved as written.
<br />Mayor Christman recommended the name of Eugene Barkhurst to replace Mr,
<br />A1 Koontz on the Recreation Commission (12-31-72).
<br />Mre Michael Karhan, Acting City Engineer, said his office has sent two certi-
<br />fied letters to Mr. Clingman regarding proposed Clingman Subdivision, but as
<br />yet the office has not heard from him. Therefore, Mr. Karhan recommended and
<br />requested that Council hold up any action on Resolution No. 69-151 tonight.
<br />Mr. Caster, Appointments Committee Chairman, said that this committee recom-
<br />mends that Council approve appointment o€ Mrs. Betty Crabtree, 6256 Surrey
<br />Drive, to serve as a representative of the Board of Education, as the sixth
<br />member of the Cultural Activities Committee, tor a term of one year. Mr.
<br />Caster then moved that Council approve this appointment, seconded by Mr.
<br />Prokasy. "Yeas" Caster, Hodgins,Limpert, Prokasy, West. Mr. Caster also
<br />said committee approved, and he made a motion that Council approve the ap-
<br />pointment of Mr. Eugene Barkhurst to the Recreation Commission. Mr. West
<br />seconded this motion. "Yeas" Caster, Hodgins, Limpert, Prokasy, Miller,
<br />West.
<br />Mr. Limpert, Chairman of Transportation Comnittee, reported that they were
<br />unable to set up meeting with Fairview Transportation Committee because of
<br />their vacation schedule, but will try soon again.
<br />Mr. West, Chairman Finance Committee, said he would like to call a short
<br />meeting of this committee immediately following Council meeting tonight.
<br />Mre Prokasy, Chairman of Design & Platting Committee, said this committee
<br />was also recommending that action on Resolution No. 69-151 be withheld to-
<br />night. Minor changes need to be made. This Resolution has been referred
<br />to the Planning Commission, but because of August vacation period they have
<br />not as yet acted upon it, and so Resolution No. 69-151 definitely cannot be
<br />acted upon tonight. Mr. Prokasy also mentioned that Resolution No. 69-159,
<br />an amendment to Sands Subdivision #l for record purposes only, will be on
<br />Agenda tonight; also, Resolutian No. 69-160, giving approval to proceed to
<br />CEI for transmission lines. He mentioned that the committee has met and
<br />made plans for the public Hearing, which will be held in the North Olmsted
<br />High School Cafetorium on September lOth, at 8:00 p.m.
<br />? Requests to address Council: Mr. Forrest Kitson inquired about subdivision
<br />between Decker & McKenzie Roads, Mr. Prokasy said the subdivision was ap-
<br />proved by the Planning Commission, and referred to the Design & Platting
<br />Committee of Council. They have recommended some additional changes to the
<br />plan, so it now must be referred back to the Planning Commission.
