Y y ? . a
Council and citizens have requested they consider a slightly
longer route, staying in Metropolitan Park to the corner of
Columbia Road and M astic Road, then overhead directly through
high-rise commercial property to Great Northern Shopping Center
however C.E.I. is hesitant to destroy the beauty and animal
sanctuary in the valley. This is ridiculous. I doub t if
their beautiful poles would pollute the park area any worse
than the sewage treatment plant in the valley at Sheppard
and Mastic Roads, a mere 1/2 mile away. Overhead lines in
the valley would pollute no private property, nor would they
devaluate private property on Columbia, Butternut, and
Kennedy Ridge Roads.
Another practical solution would be to build the substation
in the valley, thus eliminating all new overhead lines into
North Olmsted. Still another solution would be to go under-
ground for 1/2 mile through the residential property. C.E.I.
has ob viously not had sufficient time to study thoroughly any
of these alternative proposals.
Now a personal note and a plea for mercy f rom Council. My
neighbors and I, on Columbia Road, for the good of North
Olmsted, have already given an easement across our properties
to the city for their 60" sewer main. This easement is
approximately 20' in width. Also, new Route 252, again
for the benefit of all North Olmsted citizens, and in my
personal opinion particularly for the benefit of the Great
Northern Shopping Center, will place a four-lane highway
between my neighbor, Mr. Howard Childs, and ourselves.
Now the good people of C.E.I. want an additional 50' easement
crisscrossing the sewer easement and paralleling the Route
252 right-of-way, for their high voltage power line:
Seriously, we need help and protection from Council --
and we expect it:
This letter is being mailed to Mayor Ralph Christman, all
members of North Olmsted Council, and Mr. Paul Hayes of C.E.I.
I am also requesting that Mr. John Grady, Councilman, Ward 4,
read same into the minutes at the next North Olmsted Council
meeting.
cc: Miss Nora T.
