Bra. <br />Beringer requested that we look into p~sbility of condetaisg it or whatever <br />is necessary as it is an eyesore. I~r. Beaty checked with Building Coeesissioner <br />Gandy and $n inspection of thin pr+~p,erty will be perfot:~; <br />3) Mr. Beaty coesented that dewing this t teranth, the Recreation Center <br />Manager and the two Assistant WsitaBsrs have bean averaging betw!ean 16 and 18 <br />hours per day at the Rec Cutter ati~d feels they are doing a very good job <br />and have put in a great deal of tine at the Center. <br />President Pro Tern Beringer cassss-ted regarding the janitorial services -right <br />now they are having a turd ties kaa~pog ~ te3th the clean up: no lattdacapng now <br />and wad is being tracked in; e~rariuers are still coning in, etc. and with the <br />janitors now estployed it is difficult to keep up with the clean up. Caeeerttee <br />would like to have an idea how wuch it would cost to have a service coats in as <br />coa~ared to what we have now. Discetasion continued. <br />Mr. Lampert, Chairman Finance Cowettae, scheduled a Fifumuce Cctaedttee naetittg <br />on Decea~er 8, 1975, $:f~ P.M., City Bell, to comply with Law Director Gateau's <br />request and other matters. <br />Mr. West, Chairman Transportation Ct'rtN^itteje, reported: 1) A m~tisg was held <br />with the State Highway Departaent to discuss the relocation of Brooiq~ark ssatth <br />of Lorain Rd. and this waa in res to our request. Qswhile back the State <br />~" asked that a traffic survey be taken so they could look to see east the arerits <br />~r-~ of the relocation were. The result of the meeting was that it appears <br />that the O~tio Department of Trett~portaton representatives ease un~titaousiy <br />opposed to the proposed relocation. They had a nuaa~ter of reasons but Mfr. West <br />stated there is always a recourse of appeal. The letter in part stated: "However, <br />since the proposed err t could nAt be an iatproveatent over eziating <br />conditions from the staadpoiet of operations on the major facilities, we <br />continue to question the wisdeo of the proposed project. If the project is <br />necessary for improved gro~eth ae-d access far the local eomewttity a decision <br />should be Wade on that basis, but the justification is not apparent Eros a <br />geometric design viewpoint." Mr. West stated lased upon this the Trsa<e-portation <br />Comeeittee recommends then Ord. No. 74-144 be passed tonight. This ordinance was <br />postponed on several occasions attd the last title the ordinance seats postponed <br />until this night; and then jet start all over again with this project and see <br />what Council wants to do; <br />2) Washington Department of Ttrattsportation has finally authorized the City to <br />advertise and take bids for the 19 ta~aw buses. RTA has ask+ad that the loses <br />be advertised on the basis of their present specs which call for t><o doors, <br />air conditioning, V-8 engines, differ~t kinds of seats, etc. So the Rapt. of <br />Transportation asked that bids be talasn several ways so that they can be reviewed <br />and Including the way that we tented to buy flea. Then we still have to get <br />over the hump of who is going to pay the local share. RTA has agreed that they <br />are willing to pick up the tabs but it is just a question of how does Chia work <br />out. The contract with RTA says that regardless of who finally pays the fill, <br />these buses will be used in lhrrth Qlustled services; <br />3) scheduled a Transportation Cotmdttee mestiag after Finance Coaartittee meeting <br />oa December 8, 1975. <br /> <br />
