Council Minutes of 4-6-76 _4_ <br />mental Relations & Legislation Cc-~tittea, ~poxt,ed Legial.ation Committee mat <br />with Mr. Don Copeland, Director of Department of Human Resources, to update <br />Committee on the progress tr2tich has been mace regarding the securing of <br />Federal Funds for older persona -Title 3 a~ 7 of the Older ~erican Act <br />through the Cuyahoga County Office on Aging. This meeting was cut short due <br />to other pending meetings, but matter was put back into Committee for further <br />study atnd Coma3.ttes will be discussing ft a~.a; <br />2) Public Safety, Health & Welfare Cammdttar+~ fret with all Hea~-ers present. <br />Under discussion ~s a barbed mire fence around the Rec Center and Committee <br />approved same; <br />3) Safety Committee also discussed fire hits on private and City property. <br />Ord. Imo. 76-37 covering sass is on and Committee recommends approval; <br />3) Mr. r reported that on 3-17-7fi hs aced Councilman Beaty took a trip to <br />Fire Station No. 1 and No. 2 to go over equipment and also took some equipment <br />out oa the road. Mr. Boehser esplaina{ that the Fire Department is in dire <br />need of ear equipment and referred to Squad 52 and a pumper. It is hoped the <br />City will find names re; thi~rks Council should ~ ahead and order a <br />new pumper and at least one new equed. Financing of same was discussed. Mayor <br />Christssn r+~cottmemded that this be put into Finance Committee with eacpress intent <br />of purchmsiag this eq~~t astd Pay~S for it ant of councilmanic bands. <br />Discussion ensued. President Lfagp~nrt referred sass into Finance Commfitt~ and <br />suggested a joint meeting of Finance ai-d Safety Committees for further input of <br />Safety Committee. <br />Mr. Coggin referred to Safety Coamittee report regarding Committee's recommenda- <br />tion to put a barbed wire fence around the Rac Center. Mr. Boehmer stated he <br />was just talking about the back part of the property. Mr. Coggin also affirmed <br />that there is just to be a couple of strands on the top part of the fence. <br />Mrs. Sharpe reported for Mr. Wil,~tosky, Chairman Finance Co~ittse, and Long Range <br />Planning Committee. The Finance Comsi.tt~e~t April 1, 1976 -also in attendance <br />were Mayor Christsan and President of Council Limpert. First on agenda was a <br />meeting with the Supervisors of the Service Department. At that time Committee <br />was presented with their list which included a wage increase and other proposed <br />benefits. After discussion with the supervisors it was agreed that the Finance <br />Committee ~rould study their propoa~als and mast again with t2tat at a later date; <br />2) Committee than met with the liegEttiatag Cam~sittses of the Safety Forces. <br />No agreement was reached at that time. Under discussion was the feasibility <br />of a two gear contract due to the unavailability of funds this year. The <br />Finance Director is now work3aeg on the projected revenues for the end of 1976 <br />and the gear 1977. Once the Fi~rncs Committee has received these figures they <br />will again meet with the 9~afaty Forces for further negotiating sad discussion; <br />3) a Finance Csaaittee Meeting has been called for April 10, 1976, 10:30 A. M., <br />City Hall, to mast with Safety Forces. <br />Mrs. Sharpe, Chairmsa Building, Zoning ~ Development Committee, reported: <br />1) The B. Z. b D. Comsittee met on ~trch 18, 1976. It was to be a combined <br />meeting with Planning CosurissiOn but due to lack of attendance by Planing <br />Commiasi.+mt Mm^bsrs, Comm~.ttrat did not go into details regarding t2trt proposed <br />changes in the Comprehensive Plat at that time. Committee Members met later <br />at Planning Gd~emission and discw~rd the proposed changes. Mrs. Sharps has <br />written to Plsmiag Commissiat reH±es~ing the B. Z. & D. Committee's recomsended <br />changes in the Comprehensive Plain artrd is aaeaiting their formal vote and reply. <br />Law Director Gareau has been notified at the classification change which is to <br /> <br />
