A <br />resolution opposing a cast c: living formula to be included itt Police and Firesmn's <br />Pension Fund resulting in an increased coat to eronicipalities for emQlogee pension <br />benefits. <br />Resolution No. 78-139 introduced by Mr. I.Qgau was given its first Reading. A resolu- <br />tion urging the Regional Income Agency to ai~rplify their tax forms. <br />Resolution No. 7$-140 introduced by Mr. Boehmer was given its first readi.ug. A <br />resolution ea~msnding the public service of Nora T. Rill, Clegck of Council. Mr. <br />Boehmer moved for suspension of the rule re+~uiring three readimge, seconded by <br />Mrs. Petrigac. Affirsatiw vats: Boahmsr, i.ogan, Petrigac, Sar:E~psr, ~Tiisacesky. <br />Motion passed. Mr. Boehssr moved for adaptimn, seconded by Mrs. Petrigac, Affirms- <br />live vote: Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, Beringer, Wilaarosky. lYbtitnr passed. <br />Resolution No. 78-140 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 78-141 introduced by Mr. Wilamosky was given its first reading. <br />A resolution authorizing the Director of P~lic rvice to advertise for bids far <br />4,000 tons of salt and authorizing the Mayor to contract for same, and declaring <br />an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 78-142 introduced by Mr. Wilamosky was given its first reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the ~rsctor of Public Service to advertise far bids for 2,{340 <br />tons of cinders and authorizing the ~rpor to contract for smra, and declaring an <br />emergency. <br />Ordinance No. 78-143 introduced by Mayor Swietyniowski was given its first reading. <br />An ordinance ratifying th+e extension of the existing Reegonal Transit Aauthority's <br />operating agresarent which is due to expire October 5, 1978, se- additional ninety <br />(94) days, and declaring an urgency. Mr. Boehmer moved for suspesaionc:f the <br />rule requiring three readings, seconded by Mr. Logan. Affirastive vote: Boehassr, <br />Logan, Petrigac, Beringer, Wiiseosky. Motion passed. Mr. Boehmer monad for adoption, <br />seconded by Mr. Logan. Affirmstive vote: Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, 3ariager, <br />Wilamosky. Motion passed. Ordfnance No. 78-143 adopted. <br />Under Oid Business: <br />Mrs. Petrigac asked if the Service Director could possibly reconsider tine leaf <br />program or a portion of it. The portion being the residents who have many, msny <br />leaves - where they are bagging 34 or 40 bags each time - several tim~as a month. <br />Mr. Corrigan replied that the leaf program has not worked and he dial not s~ any <br />escape hatch for individual neighborhoods. Some homeawaers are going to have to bag. <br />a large number of leavers. Mr. Boeharsr said he has noticed that quite a few residents <br />have raked their leaves out to the curb and asked Mr. Corrigan if these people will <br />be informed by letter or by the garbage pickup crews that the leaves will net be <br />picked up Mess they are bagged. Z[r. Corrigan said they are net goia~ to be informed <br />by letter. Substantially we are relying on the news media to coicate the message <br />that the leaves will have to be bagged this year. Additioxtaliy, rre they ~ rake <br />them out in anticipation, tare Service Foremen are going to stop off or the service <br />crews themselves will advise the residents. Discussion ccxrtinued. <br />Under New Business: <br />Mr. Boehmer called a meeting of the Pui~3tic Safety, flealt~h and Welfare Committee for <br />Thursday, Oetobe r 12, 19?8, at 7:15 P.M. and requested the Safety Director to be 1n <br />attendance. <br />
