Issues such ss cqmpensation for
the bus line, continuation of schooi bus aervice and routes have been under discetsaicnt
during meetings with spokesmen for RTA, with no substantive praposals relative to any
of them. Are presently operating under a new 60-day contract which is due to ejcpire
on :iarch Sth. No new negotiations are scheduled at this time. Our posltion, aa it
always has been, is that we are willing to diacuas theae issues aad mave towa"-d:a
resolution. That resolution being either an equitable turnover or a continuatian of
the present contract arrangemestt. Presently, neither of these slternatives appear
satisfactorq to RTA. Will keep Couacil appraised of the day-to-day eituation but is
afraid this might be drawn out again up to the deadline.
2) expressed support for Resolution No. 78-182 which is on third readiitg tonight.
This resolution opposes the new jsil standaxds adopted by the Ststt. Compliaasee
would be a financial burdea on the City. The jail standards are written to accammod^te
permarient faci].ities more than teenporary holding facilities such as North Olusted`s.
Strongly urged Council to pass this reaolution.
3) Maqor's Listening Night will be Thursday at 7:30 P.M.
